Butterfield Bank recently donated $500 to Cayman Traditional Arts (CTA),
sponsoring two students to attend the CTA’s annual summer camp. This year the
camp is being held in the Historical National Trust House, Nurse Leila’s. The
camp covers topics such as Plants & Animals in Cayman, Traditional Homes &
Lifestyles, Celebrations & Festivals and Marine Life. Children have the
opportunity to experience Cayman Heritage first hand through the arts, crafts
and various planned excursions.
Emily De Donato of Cayman Traditional Arts said, “We are really excited this
year about doing the camp at an actual historical site such as Nurse Leila’s.
It is full of so much history! Kids get to learn not only art but they get
to learn about past history and Cayman Heritage.”
Currently running each week until August 8th, the camp will commence with the
third Annual Children’s Art Exhibit at The Gallery at the Ritz Carlton set for
September. This exhibit will feature canvas works created by all of the children
who attended throughout the summer.
Butterfield’s Marketing Coordinator Monique Bush commented, “The camp is a
fun, hands-on way for children to stay in touch with Cayman’s culture and not
loose the traditions of the past. I believe that it offers a unique and truly
valuable lesson to the youth that attend. Butterfield are proud to be a part of
