Butterfield Supports Junior Achievement

Butterfield Bank’s Carol Smith with His Excellency Governor Jack, members of the Butterfield Bank Junior Achievement group and other Butterfield staff volunteers, Saday Chiu and Lenworth James.

As a stalwart supporter of Junior Achievement in the Cayman Islands, Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited mentored a group of 12 students over the last two terms. Bank employees volunteered their time each week offering the students valuable insight into entrepreneurship. The students essentially ran their own company, under the guidance of experienced mentors, producing and selling products.

While participating in JA, the students also learned valuable lessons about business ethics, public speaking and teamwork, skills they can take into the workplace once they graduate high school. The group were recently visited by His Excellency Governor Stuart Jack where they were given the opportunity to demonstrate some of the skills they learned and show off their products. Now at the end of the term, students are working on processing the liquidation of their company and writing their Annual Report, which consists of reports on production, marketing, human resources and finance.
