Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited is proud to support
Team Cayman for Haiti, a group of Butterfield employees who plan to travel to
Haiti in October during Haven’s Build-It Week. Build-it Week is a week-long
volunteering trip where volunteers build houses and restore hope in Haiti.
Butterfield’s Senior Executive Vice President,
Caribbean, Conor O’Dea has been instrumental in spearheading this initiative.
"At Butterfield, we take an active role in encouraging progress, enriching lives
and protecting the natural environment through our charitable donations and
sponsorship programme," he said. "We are pleased to join forces with Haven to
lend our helping hands to the people of Haiti who still so desperately need our
help, and I am personally committed to supporting Haven."
Team Cayman for Haiti includes members Kim Wallace-Watler,
Russell Sager, Kathryn Walsh, Thomas Elliot, Derrylee Carter, Gonzalo McLaughlin
and Taura Ebanks. Butterfield is assisting the team by providing administration
facilities and support, as well as paid vacation and a monetary contribution to
their fundraising efforts. The team has organised several fundraising events,
such as Sports for Kids, iBingo competitions and bake sales, but is seeking
additional financial support to help them reach their goals of raising $4,100
each, plus the cost of airfare.
As overhead costs for Haven are covered by the
Chairman for the organisation, every cent of the funds raised for Haven goes
directly to buying materials for houses, the construction of latrines and
showers, promoting hygiene to children through community workers, building
community shelters and so much more. If you would like to donate to Haven’s
Build-it Week, direct credits can be made to Butterfield account numbers CI$
Account # 02-201-039792 or US$ Account # 01-201-039792.
