Butterfield Sponsors Sailing Club

Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited recently presented the Cayman Islands Sailing Club with $5,000 to help with the maintenance of their fleet of Byte sailing boats. The Bytes are used primarily in the Club’s “Sailing and me” youth programme, which allows for hundreds of children to learn about and enjoy sailing each year.

Butterfield Bank has been a supporter of the Sailing Club for a number of years, having purchased three Bytes for the Club a few years ago. The Bank also helped to fund the completion of the Pete O’Neill Training Facility in 2007, which is now the home of the current youth programmes.

Director of Sailing, Michael Weber said, “Thanks to Butterfield Bank we will be able to upgrade the sails on the Bytes and provide the necessary equipment for our young athletes to compete in Cayman and overseas.  Once again we are grateful for Butterfield Bank’s continued support for youth sailing.”
