Butterfield Provides Information Security Training to Employees
Congratulations to all the Butterfield participants who completed the security training courses: Michael Barrowman, Luc Belargent, Robert DaCosta, Thomas Elliot, Ray Farrington, Richard Johnson, Lisa Krebs, Vlad Logvinov, Karen Mantz, William McFarland, Kevin McLaughlin, Stephanie McLaughlin, Karen Osborne, Jose Rochez, Wayne Seymour, Delia Slater, Peter Slocock, Phil Szulc, Barbara Ward, James Koopman, Arthur McTaggart, David Newton, Coll Campbell, Glen Mernett and Billy Pennington.

Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited demonstrated its commitment to delivering the highest standard of service to its customers, employees and stakeholders by providing the industry’s gold standard in information security training to its staff.

Butterfield’s Chief Information Security Officer Robert Eryou, in concert with the company’s Learning and Development department, began an intensive eight-week course this year throughout May and June to develop Information Security expertise in preparation for Butterfield employees to take exams for two of the most highly regarded security certifications available today. Participants selected either the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or the Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) designations.

Each participant committed to learning 10 areas of security specialization, reading between 700 to 1000 pages of material, attending 34 hours of classroom sessions, followed by either a three or six hour exam. “We are extremely pleased with the amount of interest and personal dedication shown from such a diverse group of participants including those from Information Technology, Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, Premises, Project Management Office and Fund Services,” said Robert Eryou. “There were 25 participants in total and 14 of those took the exam to become certified.”

Of the 14 people who sat either the CISSP or SSCP exam on June 28th, nine have passed. “This is an incredible accomplishment, and we could not be more impressed with all the participants,” said Robert Eryou.

“At Butterfield, our staff are the greatest assets we have and we continually invest in their education and training as we believe that well-trained people provide us with the best possible return on that investment,” said Jim Knapp, Chief Technology Officer of Butterfield. “The dedication they are showing will improve each of their careers and benefit the bank for years to come.”
