Butterfield Brings the Cayman Tri back
Butterfield’s Searlina Bodden presents Cayman Islands Triathlon Association’s Polly Cox with their sponsorship of $10,000.

Butterfield recently signed on as a sponsor of the Cayman Islands Turtle Tri for the 15th consecutive year. The triathlon is set to take place on Sunday, November 23rd at the Public Beach.

Butterfield’s Searlina Bodden commented, “We congratulate Polly Cox and the Cayman Islands Triathlon Association for being so committed to staging world class triathlons here in the Cayman Islands.”

Race organiser Polly Cox says, “Triathlon is a dynamic event that allows people of varying ages and abilities to set goals and achieve them.  You don’t have to be a fast swimmer, cyclist, and runner, just confident enough to take up the challenge whether it be as an individual or on a relay team.  Crossing the finish line brings about a huge sense of accomplishment. It’s great to see teams from the same company challenging each other, and those who have been on a team in previous races, doing the race on their own this year. It’s also exciting to see so many new faces on the Tri scene. We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Butterfield Bank for their continuing trust and support.”

The Cayman Islands Turtle Tri offers two triathlon events which are open to Individuals and Relay Teams. The Olympic distance event consists of a 1500-metre swim, 40 km bike, and a 10 km run. The Sprint event involves a 750 metre swim, 20 km bike, and a 5 km run.  Awards will be presented to overall and age group winners. New for 2008 is the Turtle 10K run.  This event is in its trial stages, and has been included as a way of accommodating runners not taking part in either triathlon events.

There is no age minimum for athletes participating on a team. A matchmaker system has been set up for anyone wishing to participate on a relay team, but can’t find one.  Simply e-mail contact details and the event/discipline you wish to do, to

Participants will receive a lot of cool stuff and some great race support.  Volunteers will receive a great souvenir T-shirt and are welcome to join in at the Pre-Race Pasta Party at Courtyard Marriott and the Post-race Awards BBQ at Calico Jacks. Anyone wishing to offer some time to the event may volunteer by call 927-2714 or e-mailing
