Butterfield Art Competition Winners Announced

Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited is proud to announce the winners of its children’s art competition. Part of Butterfield Bank’s 40th anniversary celebrations in 2007, the competition was themed around Cayman by sea, land or sky and entries could be submitted in any medium. Winners received cash prizes ranging from $50 for honourable mentions to $500 for first-place in each category. 

 

The winning artwork will be displayed in the new art gallery located in Butterfield Place. “This will be the first exhibition held in our gallery,” said Kathryn Roffey, Marketing Associate of Butterfield Bank. “We were so impressed with the quality of the work we received and can think of no better way to celebrate our 40 years in Cayman than to have the creations of the future artists of Cayman decorate our gallery walls.”

 

In the 8-10 year old category, first place went to Dominic Perez from George Town Primary, runner up is Alexander Agemian from Cayman Prep & High School and the honourable mentions were Jesper Barrozo of George Town Primary and Vania Cornwall also of George Town Primary.

 

In the 11-13 year old category, first place went to Clarice Diaz of Pace High School, runner up is Bianca Stephanie Christian of Wesleyan Christian Academy. The honourable mentions of this category are Luckshi Maheswaran of St. Ignatius Catholic School, Mahalia Seymour of Pace High School and Chantel Ebanks of the Alternative Education Center.

 

In the 14-15 year old category, first place went to Lakeisha Mason of New Horizons High School, runner up is Marcie Wood of John Grey High School and the honourable mentions went to Mellean McNickol of New Horizons, Cassandra Shea of St. Ignatius Catholic School, Claire Fletcher or Cayman Prep & High School and Tiffany Trotter of Triple C School.

 

In the 16 -18 year old category, first place went to Alejandro Angel Jr. of Triple C School and runner up is Cynthia Gonzales of St. Ignatius Catholic School. Cynthia also received two honourable mentions in this category along with Claire O’Dea of St. Ignatius Catholic School.

 

Butterfield would like to thank each and every child who entered and also to say a special thank you to our judges, local artist David Bridgeman, local artist and art teacher Chris Mann, Trina Christian of Cayman Traditional Arts and Sheree Ebanks, Director and Head of Wealth Management at Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited and amateur photographer.
