Choose information about Payments below:
Personal Transfer
Clicking on Payments and then Personal Transfer brings up the Transfer Money screen (shown below in Fig. A). From here you can transfer funds between your various accounts, even those of different currencies*.
- Select the Destination Account, or the account you want to transfer to, from the drop down box.
- Enter the amount you wish to transfer (this amount should be in the currency of the destination account). Alternatively, you may enter the amount in the Originating Details section.
- Select the date you wish to have the transfer processed, today’s date is the default. Payments can be post-dated up to a month if necessary.**
- Select the Originating Account of the transfer (the account transferring from) from the drop down box.
- Enter the amount to transfer (this box will be disabled if you have entered an amount for the destination account). This transfer amount will be in the currency of the originating account.
- Click the Transfer Money button to complete the transaction.

* Due to the fluctuation of the currency markets, we are unable to process online cross-currency transfers in excess of US$10,000.00 during business hours and US$1,000.00 outside of business hours. Please contact your branch or account manager for assistance with such transfer requests. Transactions between CI$ and US$ do not carry this restriction.
** An immediate transfer, or post-dated transfer (up to a month), will only be processed if there are sufficient funds available on the day of the transfer.
Utility/Third Party Payment
Payments can be made to the major utility companies (e.g. C&W, CUC, Water Authority, Cayman Water) as well as to other Third Party payees who are customers of the Bank (e.g. for rent payments)*. Your Butterfield credit card can also be paid from this screen (shown below in Fig. B). Prior to initiating these payments, you will need to register payees through the Payee Menu (see Payees).
- Select Payments from the main menu then Utility/Third Party.
- Select the Payee you wish to make a payment to from the drop down list. If a payee is not listed, you will need to set-up a new payee by selecting Payees from the main menu.
- Select the date you wish to make the payment (today’s date is the default)**
- Select a currency the amount is to be paid in from the drop down list.*
- Enter the amount of the payment.
- Select the account from which you wish to debit the payment.
- The description field is optional but may help you identify the payment at a future date.
- Click the Make Payment button to complete the transaction.

Group Payments
The Group Payment feature allows you to pay several individuals through a single payment screen, e.g. for Payroll. The individual accounts that you are paying can only be in US$ or CI$ funds. Prior to completing a Group Payment you will need to set-up a Group Payee through the Payee menu (shown below in Fig. C).
- Select Payments from the main menu then Group.
- Select a Group Payee from the drop down menu.
- Select the date you wish to make the payment on, payments may be post-dated up to a month (today’s date is the default)*
- Select the Account that the funds will be debited from. (Limited to US$ and CI$ accounts only).
- The description field is optional but may help you identify the payment at a future date.
- Click the Set Up Payment button.
A second screen appears allowing you the ability to choose which individuals to pay, based on your Group Payee Set-up. Continue with the following:
- Select the individuals you wish to pay and enter the amounts. The amount to enter is that of the crediting accounts' currency.
- Click the Make Payment button to complete the transaction

Check Status
Check Status provides the ability to view the status of all online payments made against a specific account (shown below in Fig. D).
- From the main menu select Payments then Check Status.
- A list of all your Butterfield Online Accounts will appear. Click on the account against which the payment was carried out.
- A list of all payments against this account will be shown. Click on the payment you want to check the status of.

Authorise A Payment (usually used by companies)
- From the main menu select Payments then Check Status.
- A list of all your Butterfield Online Accounts will appear. Click on the account for which the payment was carried out.
- A list of all payments against this account will appear. Click on the payment you want to authorise.
- A screen will appear (shown below) with the details of the payment. At this point the options to: (1) authorise the payment and (2) reject the payment will be available. Proceed with authorising the payment if details are correct and you wish to complete the transaction.
