Conor O'Dea, FCA

Mr. O’Dea joined the Board in 2016 following his retirement as the Group's President & Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited. He joined Butterfield in 1989 and was named Managing Director, Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited in 1997. In 2010, he was named Senior Executive Vice President, Caribbean, and in 2011 Senior Executive Vice President, International Banking. Mr. O’Dea is a Chartered Accountant who has worked in the financial services industry in the Cayman Islands and internationally for over 30 years. He is Chairman of Cayman Finance (a financial services industry group) and is a past President of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce and the Cayman Islands Bankers' Association. Mr. O'Dea serves as a Director of several listed and private companies, including BF&M Limited and Digicel Cayman Limited. Mr. O'Dea holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University College Dublin and has been a Fellow of Chartered Accountants in Ireland since 1995.

Michael McWatt was named Managing Director of Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited in May 2016, with responsibility for leading the Butterfield Group’s Cayman operations. He previously also had overall responsibility for Community Banking functions in Bermuda and Cayman. He is a career banker with more than 25 years’ experience in Canada, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, 19 of which have been with Butterfield Group. Prior to being appointed Managing Director he held the positions of EVP Deputy Managing Director in the Cayman Islands and Group Chief Credit Officer in Bermuda. Prior to joining Butterfield in 1999, Mr. McWatt held progressively senior positons in corporate banking, commercial lending and risk management for TD Bank and Scotiabank in Canada. Mr. McWatt is a graduate of the Executive Program from Ivey at Western University, holds an Honors Commerce degree from University of Windsor and a BA in Economics from McMaster University. He is a Director and Past President of the Cayman Islands Bankers’ Association and a Director of Cayman Finance.

Sophia joined Butterfield
Cayman’s Board of Directors in 2002 and was the founder of the firm Solomon
Harris which merged with Bedell Cristin in 2018. She trained and practised with
Hunter & Hunter (now Appleby) before leaving to establish Solomon Harris in
1997. Sophia is managing partner of Bedell Cristin's Cayman Islands practice
and heads up the relocation and local licensing team. Sophia’s specialties include
banking, hedge funds and unit trusts, corporate and commercial law, trusts,
immigration and all aspects of local licensing law. Sophia regularly advises
and helps companies on all aspects of business relocation or restructuring,
including their interaction with CIMA and any other government entities,

Ms. Frizzelle joined the Board in November 2019. She is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years experience providing audit services to publicly traded companies, alternative investment companies, banks, trust companies, broker/dealers, and other financial service entities. She joined KPMG in the Cayman Islands in 1998, serving as a Partner from 2005 until her retirement in 2015. During her tenure, Ms. Frizzelle spent 3 years as the COO and CFO for a sub-set of 17 KPMG offices located in the Caribbean and other offshore jurisdictions, coordinating global KPMG initiatives across the practices. Ms. Frizzelle trained with Deloitte and Touche in Orange County, California and holds a Bachelor of Science, Accounting from the University of Southern California.
